Westin hotels swap managers

April 23, 2014 – Both Westin hotels in River North have new general managers. They have traded managers. Peter Simoncelli has moved from Westin’s hotel on North Dearborn Street to Westin Michigan Avenue. Brent Menzel has left that hotel for Westin Chicago River North, replacing Simoncelli on April 8.

Brent Menzel A hotel employee says rotating managers are normal for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, which manages both hotels. Menzel (left) was previously the general manager at the Westin in Lombard, Illinois, and the Westin O’Hare in Rosemont.

He studied hotel and restaurant management at the University of Wisconsin.

Simoncelli (right, with former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley) has held management positions at the Four Seasons hotel on East Delaware Place near Michigan Avenue. Richard Daley & Peter Simoncelli

The Westin at 909 North Michigan Avenue is owned by LaSalle Hotel Properties, which also owns Hotel Chicago.
