Reflection of Vivian

September 10, 2012 – Sometime in 1963, something in a storefront window on the south side of Wacker Drive caught the eye of nanny/photographer Vivian Maier (1926-2009). She captured this image of Marina City reflected in the window of E. G. Men’s Shop near the corner of Wacker and Dearborn. (Click on image to view larger version.)

The Chicago History Museum uploaded the image to Flickr last week. An exhibit of Maier’s images opened on Saturday. Vivian Maier’s Chicago runs through next summer.

Maier lived in Chicago from 1956 until she died in 2009. While employed as a nanny, she took thousands of photographs, many of which have been critically acclaimed and exhibited throughout the world.
