Video producers moving to Wrigley Building

Photo by Steven Dahlman April 9, 2015 – One of Chicago’s largest video production companies is moving to Wrigley Building.

Optimus is moving this fall to 38,000 square feet on floors 11 and 12 in the north tower.

A custom-built spiral staircase will connect the floors. The space is designed by Graham Anderson Architects.

Tom Duff, president of Optimus, told Reel Chicago on Tuesday his 77-person company is moving “to have a blank canvas on which to build a new Optimus from scratch.”

He called Wrigley Building “iconic, classy, and ideally located.”

Optimus is a “post/production house,” producing its own video but also adding finishing touches such as editing, color correction, visual effects, and audio mixing to video shot by others. Clients include Blue Cross Blue Shield, BMO Harris Bank, Kmart, McDonald’s, Miracle Whip, and Shedd Aquarium.

Currently, Optimus is located in Streeterville, in a building on East Grand Avenue that Duff calls ”a sprawl over five stories with wasted space.” That building has been sold. Optimus will move in October or November.
