Hotel Sax leads Marina City sites in web traffic

April 18, 2009 – Two leading sources of information on web site traffic are agreeing that of about 20 sites related to Marina City, Hotel Sax Chicago is getting by far the most visits.

The web analytics company Compete estimates 13,150 different people visited the hotel’s web site in March. Traffic spiked in October 2008, fell in November, and has since risen steadily. Another source, Alexa, ranks hotelsaxchicago.com at 581,640 out of all web sites. As of March 2008, there were more than 100 million web sites in operation, according to Wikipedia.

Compete

Other sites ranked high by both Compete and Alexa include blogs by Marina City residents Lynn Becker and Mike “Chicago Carless” Doyle, and web sites for Bin 36 and Marina City Online.

Ranking low was the web site for Marina Towers Condominium Association. Alexa does not have specific traffic data but ranks the site at higher than 18 million. Compete estimates 1,142 people visited the new dkcondo.com site in March but that site is operated by Draper and Kramer on behalf of 81 homeowners associations that it manages.

Data is for March 2009. Rankings do not include sub-domains, which leaves out chicago.transwestern.net, chicago.dickslastresort.com, marinawatchdog.blogspot.com, and blogs by Realtors Michael Michalak and Brian Muir. Neither service had any data on marinacitychicagogiftshopgallery.com.
