December 28, 2012 – After taking three years off, a tower crane will return to 111 West Wacker as construction crews aim toward completion of the 60-story tower in the spring of 2014.

Tricia Van Horn, vice president of marketing for Related Midwest, which acquired the property in July 2011, says crews are scheduled to begin erecting a tower crane “in mid-January” and will pour concrete by the end of January 2013.

In mid-January 2010, the site’s tower crane was dismantled at the insistence of the City of Chicago, concerned that without regular maintenance and daily inspections, the crane could collapse.

Construction resumed in November, four years after stalling at the 28th floor due to financial issues. When completed, the 950,000 square foot building will offer 504 luxury rental units.
