New T3 trailer shows Chicago River on front line of intergalactic war

April 28, 2011 – “Years from now, they’re going to ask, where were you when they took over the planet?”

For many people, the answer will be Chicago, on the front line of an intergalactic war.

A third Transformers: Dark of the Moon trailer released today by Paramount Pictures reveals even more devastation, particularly to buildings along the main branch of the Chicago River.

Inflicted by alien space ships and giant robots, most of the buildings suffer some damage. One in particular, 300 North LaSalle, apparently does not survive. The building is simply torn in half and topples over.

Damage to both towers at Marina City appears extensive, mostly to the top floors, some of which are gone. (Click on image to view larger version.)

According to a description on Apple.com, “a mysterious event from Earth’s past erupts into the present day [and] threatens to bring a war to Earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us.”

The film opens on July 1.
