Subway smoke summons firefighters

January 10, 2011 – Seen here from a laundry room at Marina City, fire and police vehicles are parked on State Street between Wacker Drive and Lake Street at 9:49 Monday morning. (Click on image to view larger version.)

According to published reports, smoke was reported in the CTA Red Line subway between the Lake and Grand stations. However, there was no fire and no injuries were reported. State Street was closed just north of Wacker to accommodate firefighters, who started to leave the scene shortly before 10 a.m.
