January 6, 2016 – A 7-Eleven convenience store on North Wells Street in the Loop may have been the scene of five robberies during the last two weeks of 2015.

Chicago Police Department issued an alert on Tuesday to businesses in the Loop about the robberies, all of which occurred at an unidentified convenience store in the block on Wells Street between Madison and Washington Streets. Data from Google shows just one convenience store in the block, the 7-Eleven at 48 North Wells Street.

“Three offenders have repeatedly entered a convenience store with the intent to steal retail products,” reads the alert. “One offender stands by the door as a lookout and has directed the sales clerk not to move or make any calls. The other two offenders fill backpacks with food products, cartons of cigarettes, and liquor bottles.”

The robberies happened on December 23, 24, 25, 28, and 30, between about 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Each robbery netted more than $500 worth of items. The suspects are described as black men, 18 to 22 years of age.
