Man stabbed on State Street trying to break up fight

September 13, 2011 – A man trying to break up a fight between two women on the sidewalk next to Marina City late last month was stabbed for his effort.

The unidentified victim, who had been drinking, told police he saw the women, whom he did not know, fighting in the 300 block of North State Street at about 1 a.m. on August 31. After trying to break it up, he heard someone say, “You got stabbed,” and he noticed a cut on his upper right shoulder. He walked to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was in good condition when police arrived later that morning.

He described the woman who stabbed him as African-American, 40 to 45 years old, five-feet-seven-inches-tall, 150 pounds, with short black hair and a light brown complexion. She was wearing a black shirt and black pants. The victim, who is also African-American, lives west of the Loop.
