4-Mar-18 – For lack of a state liquor license, the city has closed a late-hours dance club in River North.

Spybar was ordered closed on February 23 by the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection.

CWB Chicago reported on Friday it could not find evidence that Spybar ever had a valid state liquor license. A representative of Illinois Liquor Control Commission told the crime news site they, too, were trying to find that information. Spybar had a city liquor license but it expired on February 15.

Spybar says it will reopen on March 8. The club had claimed on social media that it was relocating on February 23 due to work being done on its sprinkler system. Those posts on Facebook and Twitter have since been removed.
