Developer to share skinny hotel plan with public

November 9, 2013 – You may have thought there was no possible way an entire building could be constructed behind the rounded Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, on East Wacker Place, the shortcut to Michigan Avenue from Wacker Drive.

Magna Hospitality Group hopes you are wrong. The Rhode Island company purchased the 4,800 square foot lot last year for only $5 million and plans to build a 27-story 191-room Hilton Garden Inn hotel.

Representatives of Magna, who so far have not provided many details of the project, will present their plans and answer questions later this month at a public meeting organized by 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly and Chicago Loop Alliance.

It would be the fourth hotel on that block, along with Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront, Club Quarters, and Chicago Motor Club Building, which is being converted into a Hampton Inn hotel.
