Shoe shine, then stabbing

March 30, 2012 – A 53-year-old man visiting Chicago told police he was stabbed on North Dearborn Street in front of House of Blues two weeks ago by a man who had just shined his shoes.

According to the police report, the incident happened on March 15 at about 10:30 p.m. However, police did not speak with the unidentified victim until four days later.

While the man was getting his shoes shined, he was told the cost would be five dollars per shoe. When he refused to pay, the suspect “took an object from his shoe shine supplies” and stuck the victim in the head, requiring him to get five stitches.

The shoe shine man is described as black, about 40 years old, five foot six inches tall, weighing 155 pounds.
