Sax Crimson Lounge top celebrity spot, says nightlife columnist

September 7, 2010 – The nightlife columnist for the Chicago Tribune has made a list of top celebrity spots in Chicago, and at least for August, Crimson Lounge at Marina City’s Hotel Sax is on the list.

Luis Arroyave (pronounced “R. O. Yah Veh”) puts the plush lounge at Number Six. Celebs spotted there include actor David Arquette, pop singer Ke$ha, and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat. Writing this week in his column, “About Last Night,” Arroyave says Crimson is making its first appearance in his monthly rankings due to after-parties that followed Lollapalooza, the Chicago music festival that “is like our Super Bowl.”

“Having a marquee name as a host often seems to attract other celebs,” Arroyave told Marina City Online. “Crimson Lounge benefited from two events in particular in August, the Black Keys after-party during Lollapalooza and Dwyane Wade’s charity event.”

Wade’s World Charity Weekend is an annual event to help underprivileged kids.

Most of the venues on the top ten list are located in River North. They include Sunda and The Underground, restaurant/bars on West Illinois Street, Hub 51 on West Hubbard Street, Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab on East Grand Avenue, and Cuvee on West Erie Street.
