March 16, 2023 – High-tech, hydrofoiling catamarans will again race on Lake Michigan at speeds greater than 60 mph as the U.S. Sail Grand Prix returns to Navy Pier this summer. The two-day race is scheduled for June 16-17. Nine teams are competing at locations around the world, with Lake Michigan being their only fresh-water venue. “Forget everything you know about sailing,” advises Navy Pier CEO Marilynn Gardner. “The close-to-shore action is absolutely exhilarating and transforms the Pier into a beautifully buzzing lakefront stadium.” (Photo obtained from Sail GP.)
