May 29, 2015 – Yet another Marriott hotel opens Friday in River North. The AC Hotel Chicago Downtown, located at the corner of North Rush Street and East Ontario Street, has completed a full renovation of all guest rooms and public areas.

It was formerly called Hotel Rush and before that, it was Four Points by Sheraton Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile.

The eight-story hotel now describes itself as an “upper moderate tier lifestyle hotel brand, targeting the design conscious traveler looking for a cosmopolitan hotel in a great city.”

More specifically, the hotel sees itself as appealing to millennials because of its location and the “sleek, minimalist” style of its rooms, designed by The Gettys Group of Chicago.

The hotel is owned and managed by Marcus Hotels and Resorts. The AC Hotels brand originated in Spain in 1998. In 2011, hotelier Antonio Catalan went in on a joint venture with Marriott and the brand was expanded into the United States, France, and Denmark. There are now 75 AC Hotels worldwide.
