Strong-arm robbery nabs iPhone near Marina City

January 7, 2011 – Chicago police report no arrest so far in a “strong-arm” robbery near Marina City late last month.

No weapon was used but the victim says he was hit in the head and had his $300 Apple “iPhone” stolen.

At about 9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, an unidentified victim, according to police, was walking on the street and talking on his phone when he noticed four black men walking toward him.

When he detoured to Marina City, one of the men ran up behind him and struck him on the back of his head, causing him to fall forward. The man then told the victim to “give me your phone,” which he did.

The assailant fled north. The victim did not appear to be injured and declined medical treatment.

The suspect was described as a black male, 20-25 years old, 5’7” to 5’9”, 180 pounds, brown eyes, and black hair with dreadlocks. He was wearing a red skullcap, blue shirt, and dark jacket.

There was an arrest in an unrelated assault reported the next day, December 22 at about 2:15 p.m. on a sidewalk near Marina City. Details of the incident were not immediately available.
