Police warn of strong-arm robberies near Wabash, State

September 24, 2013 – Three late-night robberies in River North in the past five weeks have Chicago police warning residents to stay in well lit areas at night and if possible, do not walk alone.

Two of the robberies happened near North State Street and the third was on Wabash Avenue near Trump International Hotel & Tower.

In each of the incidents, a man and a woman, both African-American, approached as their victims walked along a sidewalk. They punched, pushed or threw the victims to the ground, demanded personal property, then fled.

The suspects are described as 25 to 35 years old and about six feet tall or a little shorter. The woman has long black hair and weighs about 30 pounds more than the man, who weighs about 155 pounds. They may be driving a dark-colored, four-door vehicle.
