Woman in car robbed in Loop at gunpoint

1-Mar-18 – Three men charged with robbing a woman at gunpoint in the Loop on Tuesday afternoon are all either on parole or probation for charges ranging from robbery to possessing a sawed-off shotgun to unlawful vehicular invasion, according to court records.

Terry Brewer of Englewood, Antonio Dorsey of Chicago Lawn, and Demarcus Moore of Auburn Gresham, all 20 years old, were arrested minutes after the robbery unfolded on Wacker Drive just west of State Street at around 2:15 p.m.

Dorsey and Moore are each charged with felony armed robbery with a firearm and felony vehicular invasion. Brewer is charged with felony theft.

During the robbery, one of the offenders opened the passenger side door of a woman’s car and demanded her valuables while holding her at gunpoint, according to Chicago Police Department. The robbers ran away with the woman’s necklace and phone, but police soon spotted the men running on the Riverwalk and a foot pursuit ensued. The victim was not injured.

Two on parole and may still be gang members

Court records show Dorsey was paroled about a month ago after serving less than one year of a two-year sentence for trying to mug a 53-year-old man in the Loop last February. Arresting officers said Dorsey was a member of the Gangster Disciples street gang. In addition to the two-year sentence, Circuit Court Judge Dianne Cannon ordered Dorsey to be on supervised release for one year.

Moore was paroled last October after serving less than a year of a two-year sentence for possessing a defaced 14-inch sawed-off shotgun in an alley near his home last January. Arresting officers said he is a member of the Conservative Vice Lords. In addition to a two-year sentence, Judge Charles Burns ordered Moore to be on supervised release for one year.

Brewer is on probation for forcing his way into a man’s Kia in the Loop on July 6, 2016. Since he was sentenced to probation and 130 hours of community service, the state has filed violation-of-probation papers against Brewer three times. His probation has been reinstated each time. In the most recent violation motion, he was released January 5 on a recognizance bond by Judge Kevin Sheehan.

Brewer may be experiencing a touch of déjà vu – the 2016 Kia invasion took place in the 100 block of East Lower Wacker Drive, almost the same spot where he was arrested on Tuesday.
