Serving the Loop and Near North neighborhoods of downtown Chicago
Photo: Chicago’s riveting car park

November 29, 2010 – (Left) Ok, we did not write that title. We found it on the blog of French professional photographer Denis Guichot, along with this intriguing image – shot in 2008 – that he added to his website recently. (Click on image to view larger version.)

It was taken in September of that year from North Dearborn Street. The rivets are part of the Dearborn Street Bridge. Above it is the west tower parking ramp at Marina City.

“Through their respective patterns,” Guichot told us, “I felt like bringing together steel and concrete – the early 20th Century style bridge and the 60s modern architecture building. The color tone of the photograph brings them even closer together. I couldn’t imagine anything other than a reddish tone reminiscent of the Chicago bridge’s deep red color which I love so much.”
