July 24, 2010 – Heavy rain Saturday morning resulted in some flooding in downtown Chicago, and the potential for more caused the CTA to run the Pink and Blue Line trains on reduced schedules. Seen here from Marina City, water has partially submerged a stretch of the Chicago Riverwalk near the State Street Bridge.

The high level of the Chicago River swamped a boat docked at the marina at Marina City and partially sank it. A freight elevator was out of service due to water getting into the elevator shaft.

The forecast is for a chance of more rain this afternoon and evening, then mostly sunny on Sunday. (Click on image to view larger version. Photo by Mark Ulaszek.)
