Radio hall of fame appoints new chairman

July 6, 2014 – The National Radio Hall of Fame, which recognizes radio’s brightest stars from headquarters in River North, has a new chairman.

Kraig Kitchin was appointed in June by Bruce DuMont, who will step down after more than 20 years as head of the hall of fame. DuMont will remain president and CEO of the Museum of Broadcast Communications on North State Street.

“It is time for new leadership…and I trust Kraig will take the NRHOF to a higher place,” said DuMont in a letter to the hall of fame committee last month.

Kraig Kitchin Kitchin (left) is co-founder of Premiere Radio Networks. He is also co-president of Sound Mind, Inc., which provides management services to broadcasting companies, and he is on the museum’s board of directors.

This year’s National Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on November 9. The 2012 and 2013 ceremonies were held at the museum in Chicago.

Last October, DuMont, who turned 70 years old in June, announced he would step back from day-to-day operations of the museum, which he founded in 1983. However, no new executive director or general manager has been named.
