Prince 2 b at House of Blues

Universal Records September 11, 2012 – The Minneapolis musician Prince will perform live later this month at Marina City’s House of Blues.

The producer of ten platinum-selling albums, who has had 30 Top 40 singles during his career, will be in town for Welcome 2 Chicago, an event earlier in the evening on September 24 at United Center. That show will support Rebuild the Dream, a foundation trying to mobilize people to build communities and improve the economy.

At HOB, Prince will follow a performance by funk/soul artist Andy Allo, who opens for Prince on tour. She is also a guitarist and vocalist in Prince’s band. Wrote Prince in a news release on Tuesday, “As soon as we felt Andy Allo’s energetic presence on tour with r band, we knew she’d b leading her own revolution soon.”

Prince (above) has not performed in Chicago since 2004.

The next month, REO Speedwagon will perform at House of Blues to benefit inner-city students in Chicago. Tickets to the sixth annual School Rocks! concert on October 25 are $125, with all of the money going to scholarships and other assistance for students at San Miguel School Chicago.

REO Speedwagon has sold 40 million records worldwide.
