Woman robbed of smartphone but not stripper pole

Photo by Steven Dahlman April 4, 2014 – A woman with a stripper pole in her room says she was robbed at gunpoint at the Westin Chicago River North.

The unidentified woman says on March 22 at about 5 p.m. she was in a room on the 14th floor with two men. After business was “completed,” says the police report, one of the men pulled out a silver handgun and put it to the back of the woman’s neck. He dumped the contents of her purse onto the bed and took a red Android smartphone and four dollars in singles. He then cut the cord of the phone next to the bed.

Before leaving, one of the men told the woman, “I’m watching you. Don’t call the police or I’ll kill you.”

She contacted hotel security, which called 911. When police arrived at the hotel on North Dearborn Street, they saw the phone with the cut cord, a large pile of clothing and makeup items strewn about the bed, and the stripper pole.

The woman was not injured and declined medical attention. Police note she did not answer all of their questions. After speaking with police, the woman was escorted by hotel staff off the premises along with an unnamed “associate.”
