June 20, 2016 – A woman shopping in the Home Goods section of T.J. Maxx on North State Street chased and confronted a man she believes was using his mobile phone to photograph under her dress.

The incident happened on May 24 at about 1 p.m. at the department store. The woman told Chicago police she noticed a Hispanic man, 35 to 40 years old, “laying on the ground pretending to look at a vase and pointing his cell phone under her dress.”

She yelled at the man and chased him down the street and into another store, where she got him to show her the photos on his phone. She did not find any suspicious photos and the man, she says, “acted as if he didn’t understand what was going on” and left the store.

The woman went back to T.J. Maxx and spoke to a manager, who told her the incident was recorded by a store security camera.
