TV producer wins ‘Night at the Bridgehouse’ contest

April 18, 2012 – A former ABC7 producer, now a globetrotting blogger, has won a 24-hour stay at the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum.

Lisa Lubin won a contest organized by Friends of the Chicago River as part of its 20th anniversary celebration of Chicago River Day, which attracts 4,000 volunteers to clean up the riverfront. Contestants were asked to submit a short essay about their hopes for the river and how they would share their experience.

“We were amazed at the love, passion, and dedication to Chicago and our river that candidates expressed in their essays,” said Margaret Frisbie, executive director of Friends of the Chicago River, “but Lisa’s writing so enthusiastically reminded us why we are in love with this city and this river, and we knew thousands more people would enjoy following her adventure along the Chicago River.”

Lisa Lubin Lubin (left) and three friends will check into the bridgehouse in the afternoon on May 4.

After a tour of the museum they will board a Wendella boat for a Chicago River Architecture Tour. Dinner at Hoyt’s will be followed by more exploring of the museum, and if needed, complimentary room service from nearby Hotel 71. The next morning, they will have breakfast at Corner Bakery, a kayak tour, and get to watch from behind-the-scenes as the DuSable Bridge is raised.

Lubin is a three-time Emmy Award winner. Originally from New Jersey, she has visited 42 U.S. states and 45 countries.
