October 14, 2023 – NASCAR has agreed to shorten the time it needs to set up and tear down for next year’s Chicago Street Race.

NASCAR’s 2024 schedule, announced on October 4, includes another Chicago Street Race on July 6-7. Mayor Brandon Johnson says ever since this year’s race, his office has been negotiating with NASCAR “with the goal of addressing concerns raised by residents, alderpeople, and other stakeholders.”

According to Johnson, NASCAR will also reduce its disruption on travel in the Loop, help the city with expenses incurred facilitating and securing the event, and give smaller, minority-owned, and women-owned businesses more opportunity to participate as vendors.
