New broadcast museum to host first Radio Hall of Fame

Ronald Reagan July 5, 2011 – Three radio pioneers and four classic radio shows will be inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame this November – and the ceremony will take place at the new Museum of Broadcast Communications on North State Street.

The Hall of Fame made the announcement last Thursday. The “Class of 2011” will include radio broadcaster/U.S. president Ronald Reagan, an Illinois native who started his radio career in Iowa, sportscaster Graham McNamee, and news commentator H. V. Kaltenborn, along with radio programs Gangbusters, The Great Gildersleeve, Suspense, and WLS National Barn Dance.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for November 5. It will be distributed to radio stations nationwide starting at 9 p.m. Central Time. A host and VIP presenters will be announced later this summer, according to a news release.
