June 21, 2011 – A new computer-generated “virtual” tour gives a better idea of what a finished Museum of Broadcast Communications would look like. The 12-minute video was shown to visitors at last Thursday’s “open house” event.

It shows off a lobby filled with tributes to famous broadcasters from Chicago, from Jack Benny to “Mancow” Muller. Entering the museum on the second floor, past the media tower, visitors will encounter a variety of radio and TV exhibits – on subjects such as comedy, drama, music, and game shows. There will be a working radio studio, the Radio Hall of Fame, a theater, and meeting rooms.

550 people attended last week’s open house, according to MBC president Bruce DuMont. State officials estimate 240,000 will visit the museum in its first year.
