Short MTCA meeting covers financial and trash issues

June 19, 2008 – Marina Towers Condominium Association set a new record for shortest board of directors meeting in recent memory – 11 minutes 10 seconds – before recessing to closed session on June 19.

Dr. Michael Louvain, Treasurer and Audit Committee Co-Chair, reported $1.7 million in reserve funds. Some of the funds are invested in certificates of deposit that are maturing, and Dr. Louvain says he is looking to replace them.

James Ward says his finance committee will meet in August to discuss next year’s budget, with the budget possibly being approved at the next board meeting on August 21.

Residential property manager David Gantt says a trash conveyor has been installed in the west tower, moving trash from the chute to where it is compacted. Additional work will be needed to make the conveyor less leaky. Similar work will be done in the east tower, but a conveyor will not be needed.

Gantt denied speculation on the Marina City resident blog, Marina Watch Dog Sound Off, that he is leaving his job as property manager.

Thursday’s meeting was shorter than the one on January 18, when the board met in open session for 14 minutes 28 seconds.
