Marina City Online’s ten most-read news stories of 2012

January 2, 2013 – Little more than a photograph from the Chicago Air & Water Show, published on August 18, was Marina City Online’s most-read news story of 2012. The photo showed U.S. Navy Blue Angels flying over John Hancock Center.

There were meatier stories. MCO published 240 original news stories in 2012, collectively read 119,649 times. Other popular stories covered filming in September along the Chicago River for a new “Bollywood” action movie, investigation of a fall from Marina Towers in June, a condo at Marina City that was home to 27 cats, and a new hair salon opening at Trump International Hotel & Tower.

In November 2012, MCO published its 1,000th news story. More than 200,000 people have visited Marina City Online since 2007, according to Google Analytics. According to MCO’s own direct count, each month in 2012, an average of 10,898 people visited the news and information website 15,244 times.
