December 31, 2015 – When they get back from a ten-day break on Monday, workers on the Chicago Riverwalk will continue installing foundations for the walkway that passes under the Wells Street Bridge.

The sidewalk on the east side of the bridge will be closed to pedestrians for 13 days from Monday, January 4, at 6 a.m. to Saturday, January 16, at 6 p.m.

The west side will stay open, according to Chicago Department of Transportation.

CTA tracks run over the Wells Street Bridge and so to minimize inconvenience, most of the work will be done at night.

Phase 3 of the project, when finished next fall, will extend the Riverwalk three more blocks, past LaSalle Street on the main branch of the Chicago River to Lake Street on the south branch.
