Marina Management Corporation sold

January 8, 2009 – Marina Management Corporation, a Marina City fixture since before the complex was even built, has changed ownership. Brian Muir, a unit owner at Marina City and founder of Alto Realty, purchased the business from Shari Vass, effective January 2.

The previous owner had been Charles Swibel, the original developer of Marina City. Once the management company for Marina City, Marina Management Corporation evolved into a small office of Realtors, selling and renting condominium units at Marina City.

Brian Muir According to the web site for Alto Realty, Muir (left) has college degrees in psychology and architecture.

In an email announcing the sale, Vass says she will continue to own and live at Marina City, but will focus on managed properties in Highland Park and Skokie. “I will still be consulting at Marina and intend to go to Buildings and Grounds meetings as a unit owner and the Board meeting next Thursday night. I own multiple units and care about the future of the building.”

New owner to lecture on Marina City’s development

Muir, who has a Masters degree in architecture and is an experienced lecturer, will give a 60-minute presentation on the development of Marina City.

“Marina City & The Genesis of Modern Real Estate Development” is scheduled for January 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the MTCA meeting room. A 30-minute discussion will follow the presentation. Drinks and desserts will be served.
