April 16, 2015 – Visitors to downtown Chicago who collectively spent $393,120 last year at Chicago Loop Alliance Activate events are invited back this year and encouraged to “linger longer.”

CLA estimates that 14,400 people attended their art-themed “urban celebrations,” held in alleys across the Loop, and after they left, many did not go home. They spent money at nearby businesses and CLA wants that to happen again this year. The alliance has partnered with downtown businesses for special offers to attendees before and after each event.

There will be new alleys this year and new artists. In February, CLA actively sought suggestions from artistic Chicagoans for this year’s events. A committee comprised of “leaders in Chicago’s creative community” reviewed application materials.

Events are scheduled for May 15, June 12, July 30, August 27, September 18, and October 16. Specific locations will be announced one month before each event, which will start at 5 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. Guests who RSVP in advance will receive a complimentary beer or wine.
