Judgeship remains elusive for Ellis Levin

March 31, 2014 – Former state legislator and condominium attorney Ellis Levin was not on a list of 26 candidates announced on Friday for 13 associate judge appointments in Cook County Circuit Court.

Ellis Levin Levin (left) was one of 277 applicants. 240 of whom were interviewed by a nominating committee of 11 Circuit Court judges between February 4 and March 25, according to Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans. The Chicago Bar Association and an alliance of 11 other bar associations evaluated applicants.

Circuit Court judges will now evaluate the candidates and vote to fill the 13 vacancies.

Levin served in the Illinois General Assembly from 1977 to 1995. In the past four years, he has been fired as attorney for three condo associations, including Marina Towers Condominium Association.

In 2012, he lost an election for Circuit Court judge, finishing fourth out of six candidates.
