April 9, 2014 – It only took nine years but the luxury apartment tower at Wacker Drive & Clark Street is so close to completion that the developer is starting to lease units.

Related Midwest announced on Wednesday that pre-leasing has opened at OneEleven, a 60-story building that will offer 504 apartments with rents starting at $1,600 per month. There will be six model apartments. The first tenants will move into the building in July.

In 2011, Related Midwest acquired the site, the ruins of a failed project to build a 90-story condominium and hotel.

“OneEleven is a symbol of Chicago’s renaissance,” said Gary Handel, president of the building’s architectural firm, Handel Architects. “At this pivotal site, we strove to create a building that will take its rightful place among the exceptional buildings that line the Chicago River.”
