Langham hires hotel manager

December 7, 2012 – The Langham Chicago, a luxury hotel being built at 330 North Wabash, has narrowed down to a season – Summer 2013 – when it will open. It has also hired a hotel manager and did not have to look far. Joe Aguilera was most recently the hotel’s director of sales and marketing. Langham Hospitality Group made the announcement on Tuesday.

Langham Hospitality Group The 52-year-old Aguilera (left) has more than 25 years of experience in operating and marketing hotels that include Chicago’s Elysian, Four Seasons, and Ritz-Carlton. He attended Purdue University in Indiana and now lives in a western suburb of Chicago with his wife and two children.

He has apparently replaced Kevin Robinson, hired in March as general manager. Robinson is currently managing partner and Chief Operating Officer at Aparium Hotel Group, a company in Chicago he co-founded.

The 316-room Langham Chicago will be located on floors 2-13 of the 52-story building. According to Langham, its rooms will be among the largest in Chicago, starting at 516 square feet and offering views of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.

This is not the first Langham hotel. That would be The Langham London, which opened in 1865. Langham Hospitality Group, a subsidiary of a Hong Kong company, now has 29 hotels in four continents.
