January 22, 2015 – Open for only a year, The Langham in River North has been declared the best hotel in the United States, at least for travelers who reviewed the hotel for the travel website, TripAdvisor.

The site announced on Wednesday the winners of its 13th annual “Travelers’ Choice” awards for hotels. Winners, says the site, are determined based on millions of reviews and opinions collected in the past year.

“Since its opening in September 2013, this elegantly modern hotel has impressed TripAdvisor travelers with its commitment to service, luxury, and beyond,” said the site about the 316-room Langham, built on floors 2-13 of AMA Plaza.

The average nightly rate at The Langham is $442, according to TripAdvisor, and the least expensive month to visit is January, when the average rate is only $347.

On January 16, The Langham was one of only five hotels in Illinois and northern Indiana to receive AAA’s highest rating, five diamonds.
