June 22, 2015 – When a young Chicago Blackhawks fan jumped into the Chicago River last Thursday to retrieve a Blackhawks cap, it was a tour boat, Chicago’s Little Lady, that rescued him.

At about 8:40 p.m., after a day of Stanley Cup celebration, on the southeast side of the DuSable Bridge at Michigan Avenue, the unidentified man, who looked to be in his 20s, jumped into the river to retrieve his red Blackhawks cap. Captain Jovan Binion spotted the man and positioned Chicago’s Little Lady so that he and Rees O’Donnell could, said a company spokesperson, “pluck the young man from the river.”

The Chicago Fire Department arrived on the north side of the river but left soon after the man was retrieved. He was reported in good condition but taken to a hospital as a precaution.
