South side man in custody after knife attack at Blue Line stop

October 19, 2015 – A 24-year-old woman was cut on her face by a man Chicago police say robbed her at the CTA Blue Line stop below Clark and Lake Streets.

Chicago Police Department Casser Williams (left), age 48, who lives in the 9000 block of South Normal Avenue, about 13 miles south of the Loop, was arrested on Saturday morning shortly after the attack.

The woman was standing on the platform at about 4:10 a.m. last Friday when, according to Joe DiBella, Assistant State’s Attorney, Williams approached, claiming she stole his mobile phone. He reported her to CTA personnel, who told him to file a report with the Chicago Police Department.

He then apparently returned to the victim, lunged at her with a knife, and cut her on the left side of her face. He took her mobile phone and ran away but was caught. Charged with robbery and aggravated battery, Williams was in Central Bond Court on Sunday but unable to make bail of $950,000.

The woman, whose name was not released, was treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
