Kimmel sentencing rescheduled again

November 15, 2008 – For the second time, Gary Kimmel’s sentencing has been rescheduled. This time, it’s the judge who needs more time. The Honorable Blanche M. Manning reset sentencing to December 5. However, that conflicts with the schedule of Kimmel’s attorney, Joseph Lopez, who has a murder trial starting that week. Lopez says he will try to get the date changed to January 9.

Sentencing had been scheduled for November 20 to give Lopez more time to prepare a motion to seek a sentence for Kimmel that is below minimum guidelines. Preliminary sentencing guidelines called for 37 to 46 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

The Marina City resident pleaded guilty on May 29 to federal charges of money laundering related to a nationwide prostitution ring.
