September 2, 2014 – A kayaker was rescued from the Chicago River Sunday evening after colliding with a boat.

It happened at about 7:24 p.m. between State Street and Wabash Avenue, closest to the north side of the river. When a Chicago Fire Department rescue boat arrived, its crew called in a Scuba Dive Team Unit, which rescued the person in the water. Two helicopters also assisted with the rescue.
