22-Oct-17 – A homeless man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition after he was attacked at three in the morning on a sidewalk near State & Kinzie Streets on October 8.

An unidentified woman who witnessed the attack called 911 about 20 minutes later, then according to the police report, it took an additional 20 minutes for officers to arrive.

The woman told police a white male, 20 to 30 years old, approached the 49-year-old homeless man, who was sleeping, “and beat him badly.” He then ran north on State Street.

The victim, who suffered blunt trauma injuries, was African American and had an Illinois State ID.

The suspect is described as five-feet-ten-inches tall, 190 pounds, with blond hair.
