May 8, 2016 – A multi-million-dollar renovation of North Harbor Tower will begin later this year, now that a Miami real estate company has completed its purchase of the 600-unit lakefront apartment building.

Crescent Heights made the announcement on Thursday but did not disclose how much they paid for the 55-story building in the Lakeshore East neighborhood. The previous owner, according to a published report, was Florida State Board of Administration.

Tomer Bitton, of Crescent Height’s Chicago office, says the renovation will help them “realize the full potential of this underutilized asset.”

North Harbor Tower was built in 1988, 16 years before nearby Millennium Park opened. Arguably its most distinctive features are windows (above) that project outward at slight angles.

A previous renovation added new kitchen cabinets and countertops to 226 units.
