Hammer-wielding women rob River North hotel guest

Hampton Inn & Suites July 14, 2016 – Two women, one of them swinging a hammer, robbed a guest at a River North hotel late last month.

A man staying on the 12th floor of Hampton Inn & Suites on West Illinois Street told Chicago police there was a knock on his door after 11 p.m. on June 30. When he answered it, a heavy-set woman pushed him and said, “We want your wallet.”

He ran to his phone but a second woman, smaller, swung a hammer at him. The first woman grabbed an empty laptop bag worth about $50 and his wallet containing a Texas driver’s license and three credit cards and both ran out of the room. One ran into an elevator, the other down stairs.

The man was not injured. He says the hotel told him the women had stopped at the front desk before coming to his room and were captured on security video.

The women were described as black, 25 to 30 years old. One was about five-feet-seven-inches tall, 235 pounds, with medium-length hair. The other was about five-feet-five-inches tall, 145 pounds, with curly hair. They were wearing blues jeans and at least one had a blue jacket.
