5-Mar-18 – A convicted felon who accidentally fired a gun in a Loop hotel lobby – injuring four people – is in custody without bail and facing multiple charges.

Reginald Tolbert Reginald Tolbert (left), age 24, of South Holland, Illinois, about 20 miles south of Chicago, has been charged with four counts of reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault of a peace officer, harassment, and other charges.

On February 16 at Hyatt Regency Chicago on Wacker Drive, Tolbert was at the front desk when a gun in his waistband accidentally went off. The bullet struck the marble floor, sending bullet fragments flying and injuring four people.

As he ran away, leaving his wallet behind, Tolbert pointed the gun at a security officer, according to police. Later, police say, he “made several phone threats” directed at detectives investigating the incident.

Tolbert was arrested on March 1 in Riverdale, Illinois, a few miles from South Holland, and was in bond court on Saturday.
