February 11, 2010 – (Above) Construction workers on an aerial lift tend to a wind turbine on the front of Greenway Self Park. The environmentally friendly parking ramp opened to the public on December 17 at Kinzie & Clark. The helical turbines will take advantage of a wind tunnel effect amplified by the 96-story Trump International Hotel & Tower three blocks east.

Six low-speed turbines will extend vertically above the roof of the parking ramp and generate 10-15,000 kilowatt-hours per year, enough to power the ramp’s exterior lighting.
