New book on Goldberg, Marina City due out soon

April 22, 2010 – The history and impact of Marina City is examined in a new book coming soon to a bookstore near you. Bertrand Goldberg’s Marina City promises to reveal the story of how the architect built his vision in concrete.

The book was co-written by Igor Marjanovic, assistant professor of architecture at Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, an international initiative of Washington University in St. Louis, and Dr. Katerina Ruedi Ray, director of the School of Art at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a former Marina City resident.

Princeton Architectural Press is the publisher. Marjanovic says the book will be part of its spring catalog and should be in bookstores “within the next month or so.”

In December 2007, Marjanovic received a $5,000 grant from Sam Fox School to help produce the book. In November 2009, he presented a chapter from the book at the annual conference of the Society for Utopian Studies in North Carolina.
