Blackhawks goalie back to work after mishap at House of Blues

December 26, 2014 – His leg apparently healed from a misstep at a punk rock concert in River North, Corey Crawford was back on the ice last week.

The Chicago Blackhawks goaltender was out for nearly three weeks following an injury at House of Blues on December 1 at a concert by the Chicago punk rock band Rise Against. He says he was leaving the concert when he missed a step.

Photo by Chase Agnello-Dean “I didn’t think it was that bad. I got up the next day and it was worse than I thought,” Crawford (left) told reporters two day later. “I’m pretty embarrassed about it, frustrated. Things were going really well.”

The six-foot-two, 216-pound Canadian, who turns 30 on December 31, did not go into details of his injury but he was seen wearing on his left foot a “walking boot,” commonly used following an injury to the foot, ankle, or lower leg.

Crawford has a six-year $36 million contract with the Blackhawks. He played in the December 20 game in Columbus, Ohio, in which the Blue Jackets defeated Chicago, 3-2.
