26-Nov-14 – The River North cancer support community named for comedian and actress Gilda Radner will try to raise money from drinkers of exclusive California wines.

Gilda’s Club Chicago says it will partner with Cellar Angels, a wine company that sells on its website wines from Napa and Sonoma counties in northern California at a discount to its members. The wines are not available in retail stores. Buyers may select a charity to which ten percent of the company’s profit from the sale is donated.

“We’re very selective with whom we partner because living our mission and serving our members is integral to the work we do,” says LauraJane Hyde, CEO of Gilda’s Club Chicago. “We appreciate what Cellar Angels is doing and how they do it, especially if it helps us continue to expand our programming.”

Gilda’s Club is a free service to cancer patients and their families. It is a network of support centers across the United States and Canada. The Chicago location on North Wells Street opened in 1998.

Radner was an original cast member of the NBC television show Saturday Night Live. She died of ovarian cancer in 1989.
