Fraud victim claims $10k loss outside HOB

April 27, 2010 – Police are looking for a driver of a silver BMW 745, accused of ripping off a prospective used car buyer in front of House of Blues at Marina City last month.

The victim was looking for a 2003 Lincoln Town Car, a luxury sedan that he saw advertised in the Chicago Sun-Times and on cars.com.

Two weeks earlier, he had met with a man claiming to be selling the car, and gave him a deposit of $2,000. When they met again at 6:45 p.m. on March 27 at Marina City, he gave the man another $8,000.

According to the police report, the suspect said, “I’m going to get you a receipt and the title and I’ll be back down,” but he did not return.
